While many of us are not able to travel around the world due to the pandemic, take a short trip with me as we travel the world and what's going on!
Canada and US Border: A blockade by truck drivers, driven by anger, started late January. The blockade is causing trucks that come from Canada unable to make their delivery into the US. This is not only causing distress to security at the border, but local shops, such as Bushes in Saline, are not able to get certain produce to the shelves due to the blockade. Many car factories in Detroit are getting shut down for weeks due to the shortage of the car parts.
The United States: The US, being one of the largest economies in the world, is booming with industry. Amazon announced early February that they were expanding some of their factories in California and other areas. In addition, while many people were stuck at home these past two years, USA Today reported that America is having a boom in the workforce.
South America: Presidents and other political powers are using any and all systems to fix climate change. This came after the landslide that occurred February 9th, 2022, in Colombia that unfortunately killed 14 people and injured 35.
Africa: The African Savannas are starting to see a positive sign in animal life and climate change. Due to the pandemic, many travel groups and other expedition programs have been halted, which have in turn brought more nature and animals into the desert. Since the beginning of 2022, at least 7 animals have been removed from the endangered list in Africa.
Ukraine Border: Tensions continue to rise as Russian military lines the Ukrainian Border. In early February, Biden sent the military to “advise the situation” on the border.
China: The 24th winter Olympic Games are on their way in Beijing, China. Gold-medal competitors like Shawn White and Chloe Kim are back on the slopes as they compete for another win under the American Flag.
New Zealand: Not only known as the island in the middle of the ocean, but also credited for being one of the countries with the lowest covid rates. However, in November, the cases began to rise and fell back again.
Australia: Australia is ready to accept new visitors! In the next couple of weeks, it will allow any persons into the ocurney, whether you are vaccinated or not-vaccinated.
